Two weeks ago I asked my followers on twitter to send me their Eurovision 2016 top 3 and first of all I want to thank all of you for sending me your top 3! I used the names I saw on twitter, not your actual twitter names :). I start off with my own top 3 and then I will show you the top 3 from everyone else. Please, do not Judge any of their opinions! After that I will give you a top 3 based on all of these tops.

The number 2 was mentioned 3 times. the number 3 was mentioned 2 times and the other countries were just mentioned one times.

  1. France.
  2. Bulgaria, Iceland, Russia.
  3. Israel, Spain, Croatia, Latvia, Estonia, Hungary.

I decided to count them in a different way, the amount of times they were mentioned as number 1, 2 or 3. After I did that I saw we had a clear top 3. Which means I will reveal the top 3.

Eurovision 2016 Top 10

Eurovision 2016 Top 10

In a few days the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 will start and I am so excited! This year Eurovision will be held in Sweden, Stockholm. Their theme is: Come Together. Also Sweden made a change in the televote, I am not sure if I like that or not.

If you want to see my full top 42, I will add it into this blogpost to!

This year it would have been 43 countries that would sing in Sweden, but Romania got disqualified, because they still had to pay a lot of money. It is good they are disqualified, but it is so sad for their singer.

The Netherlands are back in the game again! When I first heard our song, I disliked it! But this song has grown so much on me and I really hope Douwe Bob will qualify, because a finale without your country isn’t fun.

10. Spain.

Spain

Barei – Say Yay.

Spain

This song has come a long way, from a non favorite to a favorite. It has grown so much on me and this song is not a typical song that spain would send. I find it really catchy and it is so easy to remember. She is amazing live.

Spain will sing in the final!

09. Hungary.

Hungary

Freddie – Pioneer.

Hungary

I am so happy that Hungary chose him! I really love his voice. Eventhought I wished he had more of a rock song for his voice. I still love this song a lot and this is my favorite hungarian entry ever! I also love the message of this song.

Hungary will sing in the first semi-final.

08. Israel.

Israel

Hovi Star – Made Of Stars.

Israel

Before Israel made this version of the song, I really didnt like the song at all. It was such an forgetable song, but then they released this version. I fell in love with this song and I am so happy they did a revamp. Hovi sings this song so beautiful and I enjoy every minute of this song!

Israel will sing in the second semi-final.

07. Croatia

Croatia

Nina Kraljic – Lighthouse.

Croatia

Croatia is back and they are stronger than ever! I missed this country so much and they decided to take Eurovision serious. I really love this song and I love Nina’s voice. I was scared she wouldn’t be that good live, but she is really good!

Croatia will sing in the first semi-final.

06. Iceland.

Iceland

Greta Salome – Hear Them Calling.

Iceland

I liked this song before I went to Eurovision in Concert, but after the concert I knew this could be a possible dark horse. She is so good live and the song has a strong message. At the beginning I prefered the Icelandic version, but still this version is amazing! I just hope she won’t be underrated!

Iceland will sing in the first semi-final.

05. Russia.

Russia

Sergey Lazarev – You’re the Only One.

Russia

Finally after screaming to Russia for 8 years that they had to send Sergey to Eurovision, they finally did it. Sergey is my favorite Russian singer and I knew he wouldn’t dissapoint me. I still can’t believe he is actually going. This song is amazing and Russia is in it to win it! His vocals live are amazing and all I can say is I love this song a lot! This will be atleast in the top 5

Russia will sing in the first semi-final.

04. Estonia.

Estonia

Jüri Pootsmann – Play.

Estonia

This guy has such an amazing voice! I really love his deep voice and that is the main reason I love this song so much! I find his voice very mysterious and Jüri’s facial expression are just gold!

Estonia will sing in the first semi-final.

03. Bulgaria.

Bulgaria

Poli Genova – If Love Was A Crime.

Bulgaria

Best Bulgarian entry! When they announced that Poli would participate again for Bulgaria, I thought their song would be a rock song, but it wasn’t. I must say this song is so much better! Poli is amazing live and I want this to qualify, because Bulgaria deserves to be in the final.

Bulgaria will sing in the second semi-final.

02. Latvia.

Latvia

Justs – Heartbeat.

Latvia

I normally don’t like the style of these kind of songs, but I just love it a lot. Justs has an amazing voice and I love it when he sings higher and puts his power into it. I catch myself listening to this song all the time. Latvia did once again an amazing job.

Latvia will sing in the second semi-final.

01. France.

France

Amir – J’ai Cherché

France

This song gives me so much feelings everytime I listen to it. It makes me fall in love with this song over and over again. I normally not a fan of French songs, but this is so amazing. I love the French and English parts, because it sounds amazing. Amir is such a charming singer. If anyone last year said to me that I actually would have France as my winner, I probably would have told them that they were crazy. I still can’t believe it how good this song.

France will sing in the final.

Please respect my opinion!

Eurovision in Concert 2016

Eurovision in Concert 2016

On Saturday the 9th of April Eurovision in Concert was held in the Melkweg, Amsterdam. 26 of the 43 countries participated in this event. I had an amazing day with my friends and I even got to meet my friends from Twitter. Personal pictures are on my instagram account (AllTimeFionax). Today I want to give you a review from each country that participated in this event. The videos I used are from the Eurovision In Concert YouTube, all rights belong to them! Pictures are made by me.

Cyprus.

20160409_203709

Minus One – Alter Ego.

First country to sing was Cyprus and I already had Cyprus in my favorites, because it is a rock song. I like the song live, but not as much as I do when I hear the studio version. The vocals are good, to be honest better as expected. There aren’t much Rock songs in Eurovision at all, but this is the best one this year!

Slovenia.

20160409_203938

ManuElla – Blue And Red.

Slovenia was second to perform. I really dislike this song, especially the lyrics. Vocally she is good, but this song does nothing with me and she couldn’t convice me at all on the concert.

Romania.

20160409_204407(0)

Ovidiu Anton – Moment Of Silence.

I am not sure about this song, sometimes I don’t like it and sometimes I like it. His performance didn’t convince me at all. His vocals were good, but it is nothing special. Romania has been disqualified! Which means we won’t see Ovidiu in May. I feel sorry for the artist, because he did all his work for nothing!

Albania.

20160409_204743

Eneda Tarifa – Fairytale.

She suprised me to be honest, because I wasn’t as bad as I expected! I still don’t like the song, but she did sing a lot better. The live version is better as the studio version.

United Kingdom.

20160409_205252

Joe & Jake – You’re Not Alone.

These two guys are so charming! I loved their performance at Eurovision in Concert. This song has been growing on me the past few weeks and seeing this live made me love it even more! It is really catchy and the past week I have been singing this song a lot.

Switzerland.

20160409_205618

Rykka – Last Of Our Kind.

To be honest she surprised me with her vocals, but she didn’t convince me either. I find this song boring and eventhought she sung good I didn’t feel this song at all.

Belarus.

20160409_210123

Ivan – Help You Fly.

I kinda start to like this song to be honest. Ivan live was good and I really like the style of this song. He isn’t the best live, but it was nice to see him perform. I listen to this song more and more. He was actually wearing clothes, gladly.

Moldova.

20160409_210517

Lidia Isac – Falling Stars.

I didn’t like her performance at all. Vocals were ok, but nothing special. I don’t like her song either. It was nice to see her live, but it didn’t change my opinion.

Iceland.

20160409_211316

Greta Salome – Hear Them Calling.

Greta was amazing at Eurovision In Concert. She started her performance with playing the violin and after that the song started. I knew this performance would be good, but seeing this song live made me even love it more! This could be a possible darkhorse at the Eurovision and I really hope she will do good!

Montenegro.

20160409_213508

Highway – The Real Thing.

What a mess! I really don’t want to say bad things about this, but I really don’t like it. The performance was such a mess and this song is definitly a no go for me. They didn’t convice me at all! I expected a lot more from them to be honest.

Israel.

20160409_213953

Hovi Star – Made Of Stars.

Since the revamp I absolutly adore this song! This song is so beautiful and Hovi sings so good live. He totally conviced me on saturday! I love Hovi his personality.

Serbia.

20160409_214342

Sanja Vučić ZAA – Goodbye (Shelter).

I am sad that how much I try to like this song, but somehow I just can’t like it! Sanja is really good live and her performance was amazing. I just don’t feel the song at all. Which is a shame.

Poland.

20160409_214927

Michael Spzak – Color of Your Life.

When I heard this song for the first time I disliked it, but I catch myself singing this song a lot. I start to like this song, however I didn’t like his performance that much. I loved the part where the public starts singing along with the ohohoh parts. Vocals were okay.

Austria.

20160409_215445

Zoë – Loin D’ici.

This girl conviced me so much on saturday that she became one of my favourites! She got an amazing applause, which she deserved! She is so good live and I totally fell in love with this song. I never throughout she would became one of my favorites.

Estonia.

20160409_220023

Jüri – Play.

The guy with the amazing and unique voice. This song live is amazing, his voice is amazing. I love his voice so so much. This is one of my top Favorites this year!

Ukraine.

20160409_220417

Jamala – 1944.

Eventhought this song isn’t in my favorites, I liked her performance! After listening to this song again I am starting to like it more and more. She is really good live and I think this song could do good in May.

Bosnia & Herzegovina.

20160409_221031

Dalal & Deen Feat. Ana Rucner & Jala – Ljubav Je.

I like this song, because this song is in their own language. I didn’t like the rap part. I didn’t expect a lot, but I really liked it. Even the rap part! The only thing I didn’t like is that Jala was walking on the stage and it felt like he was waiting until the song was finally over.

Croatia.

20160409_221327

Nina Kraljic – Lighthouse.

This was the first time that I heard the Croatian song live. Croatia has been in my favorites since I heard it. I must say I am impressed. Nina is really good live and with a good staging she could do really good. I also loved her dress and it was perfect for this song.

The Netherlands.

20160409_223419

Douwe Bob – Slow Down.

I knew Douwe Bob would give an amazing performance and he is just a great performer. This song grew so much on me the past weeks and I think it will do good in Stockholm. It is so different from all the other songs.

Malta.

20160409_223803

Ira Losco – Walk On Water.

Before the concert I wasn’t sure if I liked Malta or not, but after the concert I knew I liked Malta. Ira is a good singer and hopefully she will do something with her performance, because she was just walking on stage.

Latvia.

20160409_224240

Justs – Heartbeat.

This performance was just amazing! I even loved it more that the studio version. Justs is amazing and I love this song so much. Aminata did a good job.

Bulgaria.

20160409_224608

Poli Genova – If Love Was A Crime.

Back in 2010 I already loved Poli with her song Na Inat, sadly she didn’t reach the final. This year I love her song even more. She had an amazing performance and I can’t wait to see her performance in May. This song also grew on me.

Italy.

20160409_225023

Francesca Michielin – No Degree Of Separation.

I like the Italian song, but the performance on ESC in Concert wasn’t that good. The bass was too loud and because of that I couldn’t her Francesca at all. It was a dissapointment, because I was excited for the Italian song.

France.

20160409_225507

Amir – J’ai Cherché.

I was excited to the Amir live! I just love this song so much, everytime I hear this song I immediatly get a mood boost. It also feels like I fall in love over and over again. This was my favorite performance of the night and Amir is very charming.

Macedonia.

20160409_230133

Kaliopi – Dona.

Kaliopi is an amazing artiest, she performed good. Unfortunaly I don’t like her song at all. It is amazing that she sings in her own language.

Spain.

20160409_230854

Barei – Say Yay.

This song has grown so much on me and seeing this live made me even love it more. She is amazing live and I love her dance moves. Great choice to let her end the show

Eurovision 2016 Favorites.

As you know I made a top 10 of every year since I watch the Eurovision Song Contest and I am also doing one for Eurovision 2016. Currently I have no idea which countries are in my top 10. My top 10 is a mess, because I like too many good songs and I can’t choose which ones belong into my top 10. So today I have a special blogpost about my Eurovision 2016 favorites. My favorites are in a random order, but I decided to take the order from the semis. Which means first the countries from semi-final 1, then semi-final 2 and then the Big 5 + host country. There are some countries that I didn’t mention, but I still like their song. But they didn’t made it into my favourites.

Semi – Final 1.

Hungary.

Freddie – Pioneer.

Before Freddie was selected in the Hungary, it was pretty clear that if they would choose him, Hungary would be in my favorites. I love Freddie’s voice, eventhought a rock song would suit him much better.

Croatia.

Nina Kraljic – Lighthouse.

I was so happy when Croatia came back to Eurovision, eventhought I didn’t expect a lot from them. Their past entries weren’t that good. But they have an amazing comeback! I really love this song, I love the message in this song and she is so good live!

The Netherlands.

Douwe Bob – Slow Down.

I never rank my own country, but I decided to put this one in my favorites. This song has grown on me so much. When I heard it for the first time I disliked it, because this is not an uptempo song!!!!! Oh well, after I listened it a few times I started to like the song and now he is in my favorites. Darkhorse of Eurovision 2016?

Russia.

Sergey Lazarev – You’re The Only One.

Sergey has been my favorite Russian artist since 2008 and when he finally said yes to Eurovision, I was so happy! I love this song so much and everytime I hear it I am like yes, he is singing for Russia. This could be a possible winner.

Czech Republic.

Gabriela Gunčíková – I Stand.

A ballad, yes sometimes I like ballads. I really love her voice and the refrain sounds amazing! I hope Europe will see this to, because Czech Republic deserves to be in the final.

Cyprus.

Minus One – Alter Ego.

Rock song in Eurovision always makes me so happy. I didn’t expect much from Cyprus until I heard their song! I just love these kind of songs and the voice from the singer is just amazing! If this song doesn’t reach the final I am will be angry!

Austria.

Zoë – Loin D’ici.

After Eurovision in Concert I started to love this song! She was really good live and she got the biggest applause from the public. This song is very simple, but it is such a cute song and I really like Zoë.

Estonia.

Jüri Pootsmann – Play.

Every single time I hear this song I can’t get over the fact that his voice sounds so amazing. I really love his low voice, it sounds so unique. Plus his facial expression are amazing!

Iceland.

Greta Salome – Hear Them Calling.

Eurovision 2016 is the year with familliar face, because Greta participated for Iceland in 2012. This song is live very good, eventhough I wished she didn’t changed it to English. In Icelandic it sounded more mysterious.

Semi – Final 2.

Latvia.

Justs – Heartbeat.

This song is so good! I just love everything about it and I love Justs his voice. This is one of my top favourites and I wouldn’t mind Latvia winning this year!

Israel.

Hovi Star – Made Of Stars.

I disliked Made Of Stars at the beginning, until Israel decided to revamp this song into this beautiful ballad. After that I started to love this song a lot! Hovi has a beautiful voice and I must say I love Hovi as person too!

Ireland.

Nicky Byrne – Sunlight.

I like this song a lot and it was my first favorite this Eurovision. Nicky isn’t that good live, but I like the studio version a lot!

Lithuania.

Donny Montell – I’ve Been Waiting For This Night.

Another familiar face! Donny participated in 2012 to with his song Love is Blind. Back then I didn’t like his song, but this year I love his song. He changed a lot in the past years, but in a good way.

Bulgaria.

Poli Genova – If Love Was  A Crime.

Poli participated in  2011 with her song Na Inat at Eurovision. This year she is back and stronger than ever. Her songs is amazing, I expected so much from her and she did even better. She is amazing live and this song needs to be in the final!

Denmark.

Lighthouse X – Soldiers Of Love.

First of All: Denmark welcome back into my favorites. Except for last year, Denmark has always been in my favourites. This year they are my guilty pleasure! This song isn’t the best song this year, but from the first time I heard it I love it!

Norway.

Agnete – Icebreaker.

I like the Norwegian song, but I actually wanted 2 other songs to win. Most people seem to dislike the song, but I really like the difference in the song. I had to listened to it a few times, until I really liked it.

Big 5 + host country.

France.

Amir – J’ai Cherché.

I love this song so so so much! Everytime I hear this song I fall in love with it over and over again. I love the French and English parts and Amir is such a charming singer. If I listen to this song it makes me so happy.

Spain.

Barei – Say Yay.

And last but not least Spain! I disliked this song when I heard it the first time, but it grew so much on me. I love this song a lot and I am so glad that kept listening to this song on and on!

Please respect my opinion! Good luck to all the countries 🙂

Eurovision 2011 Top 10

Eurovision 2011 Top 10

In 2011 Eurovision went to Germany, they held the contest in Düsseldorf, a city close to where I live! Eurovision was so close to me in 2011, but I couldn’t go. I regret not going to Germany. Hopefully Eurovision will be close again soon! 2010 was also the year that I listened to all the songs before Eurovision. In 2011 I only watched the Swedish pre-selection.

The theme of that year was: Feel Your Heartbeart. Azerbaijan won the contest after the 4th time they participated. Ell & Nikki won the contest with the song Running Scared. They won with a total of 221 points. I didn’t like Azerbaijan that year. So they won’t be in my top 10. Many people dislike their song and I still find it strange they won!

10. United Kingdom.

united kingdom

Blue – I Can.

Blue

Blue used to be a famous boygroup and with their comeback at Eurovision I thought they would win. I really loved the studio version of this song, but I expected more of this group live. They did dissapoint me a bit, because the live version wasn’t that good. Lee (the blonde guy) was actually my favourite and he really sang out of tune. They still got a good placing.

United Kingdom is one of the countries of the Big 5 which means they were already in the Grand Final. They got the 11th place with 100 points.

09. Romania.

Romania

Hotel FM – Change.

Hotel FM

Another song with not the best vocals, but I still liked this song! Everytime I heard this song I was happy.  And I don’t even know why. The melody of this song, gives me an instant mood boost. Europe didn’t agree with me and they only got the 17th place.

Romania reached the final and they got the 17th place with 77 points.

08. Latvia.

Latvia

Musiqq – Angel in Disguise.

Musiqq

My eurovision 2011 guilty  pleasure. After hearing this song live, I fell in love with it! I still can’t understand why this didn’t reach the final. I was shocked that they failed to reach the final. This song is so underrated and they didn’t deserve that! I have listened to this song so much after Eurovision.

Latvia failed to reach the final and they got 17th place with 25 points in the Second Semi-Final.

07. Finland.

Finland

Paradise Oskar – Da Da Dam.

Paradise Oskar

This song is so cute and yet again so simple! I loved it so much and when finland performed for the first time I got goosebumps. This song was the best song to open the grand final. The publiek sang along to the song. Sadly finland didn’t get that much points. I have no idea why, maybe they didn’t feel the song. And Oskar is so adorable.

Finland reached the final and they got the 21st place with 57 points.

06. Hungary.

Hungary

Kati Wolf – What About My Dreams?

ungarn165_v-ardgalerie

Don’t get me wrong, but at some points this song was a bit to screamy for me. I do love this song, but I prefer the studio version. Her vocals are really good. Performance was so so. I expected that this song would do really good in the Final, but it didn’t.

Hungary reached the final and they got 22nd place with 53 points.

05. Bosnia & Herzegovina.

bosniaandherzegovina

Dino Merlin – Love In Rewind.

Dino Merlin

This song just screams Eurovision. I really love how this song evolves, I love the melodies, the performance, the instrumation is amazing. Dino is so professional and you can notice that in his performance. He is also very charming and he flirts with camera. His vocals are good and it did very good in the final.

Bosnia & Herzegovina reached the final and they got the 6th place with 125 points.

04. Slovenia.

Slovenia

Maja Keuc – No One.

Maja Keuc

This song is just perfect and this is the first time that I really loved a Slovenian entry. Her vocals are amazing and she shows them! Her performance is amazing, but simple. This is my favourite Slovenian entry ever.

Slovenia reached the final and they got the 13th place with 96 points.

03. Russia.

Russia

Alexey Vorobyov – Get You.

alexey vorobyov

I already knew Alexey Vorobyov before her participated for Russia in 2011. He was in the Russian pre-selection in 2008 with a song called New Russian Kalinka. I really liked that song and when I saw that he was participating for Russia I was really happy. I really love the style of this song and his vocals are amazing. BUT he needed to change his background singers, because it didn’t sounded that good sometimes.

Russia reached the final and they got the 16th place with 77 points.

02. Denmark.

denmark

A Friend In London – New Tomorrow.

A friend in london

Denmark + A Band = One of my favourites again. This is I think my favourite Danish song together with Simon Mathew in 2008. Vocals are perfect, the style of the song is amazing. The performance is nothing special, but this song doesn’t need a big ass performance. After all these years I still listen to this song and I will never get sick of this!

Denmark reached the final and they got 5th place with 134 points.

01. Sweden.

sweden

Eric Saade – Popular.

Eric Saade

2011 is the year that my love for Sweden started. In 2010 Eric was so close to win the Swedish Pre-selection, but he didn’t win. A year later he won the pre-selection and I was pretty sure Eric would win Eurovision, because the package was complete. A good song, a great performance and a great singer. I loved this song so much and I voted for him a lot of times. I was shocked he didn’t win Eurovision. Since Eric won the Swedish pre-selection, I started to follow this pre-selection and I still do it now! Sweden is the country who tries to send the perfect song. That is why they won in 2012 and 2015!

Sweden got the 3th place with 185 points.

What is your top 10?

Please respect my opinion and thank you for reading!

Music Of The Month March

It is time for Music Of The Month! I will warn you this is an Eurovision Edition. I have only one song that has nothing to do with Eurovision. I didn’t just pick any songs from the Eurovision. Only my top favourite songs and one song didn’t even made it to Eurovision. If you love discovering new music, please stick around!

Amir – J’ai Cherché

This is the French entry for Eurovision and currently it is in my top 3. Everytime I listen to this song I fall in love over and over again. I really love the french and english parts and I love the intro. Sadly they had to cut the intro out, because of the 3 minute rule. France has never been so high in my eurovision top and next month I am going to see him live.

Sergey Lazarev – You’re The Only One.

Sergey is my favourite Russian singer and when they announced that he would go to Eurovision for Russia in december I was really happy. Early this month they released the song. This song is my favourite song so far. I was scared he would dissapoint me, but he didn’t. I like the style of the song and it is a typical Sergey song.

Robin Bengtsson – Constellation Prize.

This is my favourite entry in Melodifestivalen. Sadly Sweden this year won’t be in my favourites. This song is so good and I really love the lyrics of it. Also I love the harmonica. I love to listen to this song in my car with full volume. Robin has really beautiful eyes.

Justs – Heartbeat.

I love the Latvian song, but the song keeps switching between my 3th and 4th place. I love the style of this song and the voice from Justs The songwriter from this song is last years participant Aminata. I was pretty sure this song would win, because it was the best song and they kicked out my favourite before the final.

Bring Me the Horizon – Follow You.

Because this month I mainly listened to Eurovision songs I am not up to date with my other bands or the top 40 music here. That is why I was really happy that Bring Me The Horizon released the video of Follow You. It is a strange video, but I love the song. It is not my favourite from their latest album, but I love the whole album in general.

ESC 2016: Favourite Pre-Selection Songs

If you follow Eurovision, you know this time of the year is the time that most countries are airing their pre-selection. This year I followed some countries choosing their song and some of them have an amazing song, but some of them don’t. That is why today I want to talk about my favourite pre-selection songs. Sweden is still doing their pre-selection and I will make my melodifestivalen favourites after they are done.

Denmark: Muri & Mario – To Stjerner.

I loved their performance at the Danish final and their song was the only Danish song in this pre-selection.

Denmark: Bracelet – Breakaway.

This song became my first favourite in the Danish pre-selection, the performance was okay, but the song is really nice.

Denmark: Simone – Heart Shaped Hole.

I was conviced Denmark would choose her to go to Eurovision, but they didn’t (I am also happy with Lighthouse x). I think they could have been in the top 10 with this song!

Finland: Annica & Kimmo – Good Enough.

This song is so beautiful and I love these two together.

Finland: Saara Aalto – No Fear.

I was also conviced that Finland would send this to Eurovision. At first I disliked this song, but after hearing it a few times, it became one of my favourites to win UMK.

Norway: Laila Samuels – Afterglow.

This song was so amazing live. It gave me really a Game Of Thrones feeling and I didn’t expect that it would be so good.

Norway: Freddy Kalas – Feel Da Rush.

Guilty Pleasure! The Voice doesn’t suit the person to be honest, but this was live amazing! It is so catchy and it gave me a summer feeling!

Latvia: Markus Riva – I Can.

The past 2 years I was a fan Markus Riva, but everytime he didn’t win Supernova. This year he didn’t win either, he even did not reach the final. I am happy that Latvia choose Justs. I like this song and I hope next year Markus will finally go to Eurovision.

Hungary: Kallay Saunders Band – Who We Are.

Andras was my favourite in 2014 to win Eurovision, but he didn’t win it. When I saw he was back at the Hungarian pre-selection I was happy. But I really liked Freddie a bit more and I am happy he won. Andras song was good, but it wasn’t the best.

Music Of The Year, Part 2: Eurovision

Music Of The Year, Part 2: Eurovision

Today I have part 2 of Music Of The Year and today I will talk about my favourite Eurovision songs. Last week I made part 1, if you haven’t seen it check it out (here). It is a pretty long list, because I also included some songs from the pre-selections! Let’s start.

Preselection Denmark

Anne Gadegaard – Suitcase.

4251-dzb9rsshzjefo34nw2dydq

The Danish pre-selection was pretty dissapointing this year and I only have one favourite and that is Suitcase by Ann Gadegaard. I really love the style of the song. The studio version is a bit better than the live version. Denmark didn’t choose her to go to Eurovision.

Latvian Pre-Selection.

Markus Riva – Take Me Down.

10960713_10152827058319086_724823050_o

I knew Markus Riva from the latvian pre-selection in 2014. Back then he participated with Lights on, but he didn’t win. This year he was back with a different song then last year. I really love this song a lot and I love his voice. It may not be the strongest voice, but it is good. He didn’t win and I was really dissapointed. (I still am). Hopefully he will participate next year again!

Finnish Pre-Selection.

Satin Circus – Crossroads

x2a6338-pressi

I was watching a YouTube video with all the Finnish Participants and when I saw this song I fell in love with it. I really love this song and this is probably my most played pre-selection song. I was pretty sure that this song was going to Eurovision, but then it didn’t…. And I was really dissapointed, because Finland sended the worst song of this year to Eurovision and they didn’t reach the final. Satin Circus, please come back in 2016.

Melodifestivalen.

The Swedish Pre-selection is my favourite to watch.

Ellen Benediktson – Insomnia.

b-irr3hicaaipr7

She changed a lot since 2014 and this year I really loved her song! I love dance songs. Her 2014 song was pretty boring, but this years song is amazing. Sadly the Swedish voters didn’t share my thoughts and she didn’t even reach the final.

Behrang Miri Ft. Victor Crone – Det Rar Vi Inte För.

behrang_miri_victor_crone-570x330

First of all a song in their own language. I love songs in their own language, eventhought I don’t understand a single thing, I love it. I knew Behrang already, but together with Victor Crone they made an amazing song. Again Sweden didn’t share my opinion and they reached Andra Chansen (Second Chance), but no Final.

Dinah Nah – Make Me LaLaLa.

dinah-nah-melodifestivalen-2015

This song has grown on me and now it is one of my favourite songs! I love these kind of songs. This song reached the final of Melodifestivalen and I was really happy about that!

Mariette – Don’t Stop Believing.

mariette-melodifestivalen-2015-malmo-2

If Mans didn’t win Melodifestivalen, this would be my second choice. The lyrics of this song are so beautiful and they make me have a postive feeling. I didn’t see the semi-final where she was in, so I heard the song for the first live in the final. I love her style on stage and her voice.

Eurovision Songs.

And now let’s go to my favourite Eurovision songs this year!

Germany – Ann Sophie – Black Smoke.

deutschland656_v-ardgalerie

Germany, my neighbour country! I really loved their song this year. Ann Sophie is a great singer, but she didn’t deserve 0 points in the final. There were songs that were so worse and even they got a better place then her. Anyways she had a great performance  and she deserved to be there!

Belarus – Uzari & Maimuna – Time.

6483924-3x2-940x627

This song has grown so much on me, after their released their videoclip this song became one of my favourites. I played their song all the time! When they didn’t reach the Eurovision Final, I was dissapointed. Even more dissapointed about them then my own country (sorry Trijntje).

Estonia – Elina Born Ft. Stig Rästa – Goodbye To Yesterday.

Elina Born & Stig Rästa

I loved this song from the beginning, but it kind of reminded me of the Dutch entry in 2014. This was one of the possible winners this year and Estonia did a great job choosing them! I loved their performance on stage.

Sweden – Mans Zelmerlöw – Heroes.

landscape_music-mans-zemmerlow-performs-heroes

My number one favourite! This is the winner of Eurovision and my favourite. I knew Mans already before he participate at Melodifestivalen 2015. Since I watch Melodifestivalen I got to know some great artists, including Mans. Since the first time I heard this song, I loved it so much and for me this was and is the winner of the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest.

Belgium – Loic Nottet – Rythm Inside.

60683

Belgium was for me the darkhorse of this years Eurovision. This song is inspired by a song by Lorde and it did very well in Vienna. Belgium was one of the possible winners to. I liked the song from the start and I must say this song grown on me. Loic has a unique voice, which you can recognize out of thousands. Well done Belgium!

Australia – Guy Sebastian – Tonight Again.

guy1

I actually thougt this song would win Eurovision! When I heard this song for the first time I was really impressed. This is really top 40 material and I played this song over and over again! After Eurovision I have listened to this song a lot.  He became my worthy number 2.

Slovenia – Maraaya – Here For You.

eurovisionsongcontest2015semifinal266l31gktc1zl

Her voice is amazing and also like Loic Nottet a unique voice. I also really like the style of their song and I also have played this song a lot. This song was also a possible winner.

Norway – Debrah Scarlett & Morland – A Monster Like Me.

music-eurovision-final-2015-0_1

Before Eurovision In Concert I liked this song after Eurovision In Concert I loved it, so much. It such a beautiful song and I am not a ballad person, but this song is so amazing. Norway got my third place.

United Kingdom – Electro Velvet – Still In Love With You.

electro-velvet-united-kingdom-at-eurovision-song-contest

You all probably will think what the hell…. Well this song my was guilty pleasure this year! I kinda love it and Electro Velvet are really nice in real life! I hoped it would do good, but I didn’t. But still I kinda love this song. Well their perfomance was really nice.

Azerbaijan – Elnur Huseynov – Hour Of The Wolf.

82772299-efde-41c2-a4d2-a6a66daa8411_mw1024_s_n

Back in 2008 Elnur participated with samir for Azerbaijan and this year he was back with a beautiful song. I really like this song, but I didn’t like his performance itself on Eurovision. For this song the performance was a bit to busy and I didn’t really understand it.

Israel – Nadav Guedj – Golden Boy.

nadavguedjeurovisionsongcontest2015rehearsalssahhp9w0u7ll

Let’s party with Israel! Israel surpised me this year with their party song and Europe loved it to! Between all these songs israel was one of the songs that stood out!

Georgia – Nina Sublatti – Warrior.

ninasublattieurovisionsongcontest2015-fudfu6xe5wl

This song went from non-favourite to favourite in three minutes. That is the main reason she got in this blogpost. Her Eurovision performance was amazing and she was really good. A very strong contestant.

Who are you Eurovision favourites?

Throwback: Eurovision In Concert.

DSC00013

Since 2008 I watch the Eurovision Song Contest. I love how different countries choose their participant and song. The songs can go from very good till “What is this?” or “My ears!” Every year there is a pre-concert in Amsterdam, where some delegations will visit. Each year I dreamed to go and meet some eurovision artists. This year I finally could go, together with my friend Simon. We both were so excited to see all the countries.

DSC00006 DSC00014

On the 18th of April, it was time to take the train to Amsterdam. After we got off the train we went to look for our bed and breakfast. It was in the middle of Amsterdam and near a gracht. We dumped our stuff in the room and we started walking to the venue. We were also searching for flags, but we couldn’t find any. We had to wait around 4 hours until the doors went open, we spend time with other eurovision fans. And then finally it was time to go inside. Frontrow!  I lost Simon for a bit, but he was getting a German flag. I walked straight past it and didn’t score a swedish flag but I got the albanian flag.

The show started and Cornald Maas and Edsilia were the hosts of tonight. The night started with Poland and the last country to sing was The Netherlands.

Poland.

Monika Kuszyniska – In The Name Of Love

Poland chose Monika this year to represent her country. The song was a ballad, it was a nice song, but I didn’t have the wow feeling. I was a bit boring.

Montenegro.

DSC00028
Knez – Adio

A typical Balkan song and I really have thing for these kind of songs. I only took my a while until I liked this song!

Latvia.

DSC00037
Aminata – Love Injected

Her voice is amazing. Her song was weird and I didn’t like it. To screamy and loud for me, but Latvia deserved their place in the final!

Moldova.

DSC00043
Eduard Romanyuta – I Want Your Love

Catchy song, but the singing was a no for me. I didn’t like it at all. Dancing was good thought.

DSC00048
Maria Elena Kyriakou – One Last Breath

I didn’t feel this song at all.

Albania.

DSC00054
Elhaida Dani – I’m Alive

I got a flag from her country and she liked it. At Eurovision In Concert she sang really good, but at Eurovision her singing was so false. I went from like to dislike.

FYR Macedonia.

DSC00056
Daniel Kajmakoski – Autumn Leaves

For once I liked a country who changed their song into English. It was a really cute but simple song. Vocals were ok.

Hungary.

DSC00067
Boggie – Wars For Nothing

Her song had a message about wars and it was a very serious song, besides that I had nothing with the song.

United Kingdom.

DSC00076
Electro Velvet – Still In Love With You

My guilty pleasure this year. This song has grown on me so much after Eurovision In Concert. I loved it.

DSC00112
John Karayiannis – One Thing I Should Have Done

This guy was so adorable and his song is so beautiful and cute.. You don’t need fireworks or other stuff to stand out.

Germany.

DSC00117
Ann Sophie – Black Smoke

One of my favourites to! Loved the song and her performance. Still don’t know why she got zero points, she didn’t deserve that at all.

France.

DSC00123
Lisa Angell – N’oubliez Pas

I couldn’t make a better picture then this, sorry! France, what a surprise you sing in French. She had good vocals, but nothing special for me.

Israel.

DSC00127
Nadav Guedj – Golden Boy

Party! Catchy song, I loved it! Who wants to party

Slovenia.

DSC00140
Maraaya – Here For You

Slovenia was tipped as one of the winners but they sang as first in the final. Not a good place. Anyways I loved this song. She has such a different voice. A Favourite.

Austria.

DSC00143
The Makemakes – I Am Yours

Austria, the host country who got zero points. I liked this song, but I knew it wouldn’t get into the top 10.

Norway.

DSC00166
Debrah & Morland – A Monster Like Me

YES NORWAY YES! This song is amazing. One of the many duets this year, but it was the best one by far! One of my top favourites.

Lithuania.

DSC00173
Monika & Vaidas – This Time

Here we go another duet. This song was more an uptempo song. Catchy and she kissed him on the mounth and he had lipstick on his face.

Azerbaijan.

DSC00182
Elnur Huseynov – Hour The Wolf

This guy represented Azerbaijan in 2008! Back then his song was weird, but I liked it! Now his song is so much different. I really liked the song, but his performance at esc visual was messy.

Australia.

DSC00194
Guy Sebastian – Tonight Again

Hello Mate! Australia was allowed at Eurovision one time, because they are diehard fans. Watching it at 5 o’clock in the morning. Besides that their song is amazing and Guy sang very good. The song sounded like a top 40 song. Could have been a winner!

Sweden.

DSC00196
Mans Zelmerlow – Heroes

SWEDEN! My winner from the start and he won! I knew Mans before he won this years eurovision and the Swedish national final. Great singer, great performance and great song! Congratulations Mans! And Europe take an example at Sweden and watch Melodifestivalen.

The Netherlands.

DSC00215
Trijntje Oosterhuis – Walk Along

And Last but not least, my country. I liked the song. For the first time I was positive about our entry. We all know how that went.

After the concert we went to the afterparty and we talked to some artists. We talked to Germany, Norway, United Kingdom, Austria and Lithuania. We also saw Sweden! After the afterparty we said goodbye to our new friends and we walked home for an hour. Way to long in the middle of the night! Note to self: Book a hotel as soon as you know the date!

I’m so happy I went to this concert and next year simon and I will go again!

Love,

Fiona
